Are You Kidding? You Mean I Have to Blog Too?

I’m told by people who supposedly know about such things, that I must blog. It’s mandatory! But here’s the thing, I really don’t want to?

I’m a writer. I write novels, songs, musicals, plays, etc. I write all the time…ALL THE TIME! And, I’ve done it for many, many years. True, I’m not at the keyboard every hour of everyday pounding out brilliance, but I am always writing. I’m either on input or output. Most of the time, I’m on input, feeding the beast, as it were. Then, for about three hours a day, five days a week, I’m on output. Sitting in my office, alone, drinking gallons of coffee, and putting down those little nuggets I gathered while being on input. Get it?

Now, I’m told I must add blogging to my regiment. I’m also advised to: Post something everyday on Facebook, tweet three times a day, and share interesting pictures on Instagram. Really? REALLY?

I know there are creative people out there who have no problem doing this, so my question is a simple one. How? How do you shutdown, turn off the damn cell phone, and get into the meditative mindset one must get into to create, and still blog, tweet, post, pin, share, like, favorite, link, blah, blah, blah?

Honestly, I’m asking.
